Moore Philharmonic Orchestra (MPO) History
Founded in 2005, the Moore Philharmonic Orchestra is an all-volunteer student and community symphonic orchestra based in Moore County. Each semester, our ensemble welcomes 75–80 musicians, providing adults the chance to continue their musical journey and students the opportunity to expand their skills and gain meaningful performance experience—completely free of charge.
Participation is open to adult community members and students from high school and up; middle school students are considered by audition. Anyone interested in joining should inquire through the contact page. MPO presents two major concerts each year—our annual Holiday and Spring performances—held in the R.E. Lee Auditorium at Pinecrest High School. Admission is by choice of any donation.
As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, MPO’s success is made possible through the generous support of our community, local businesses, and the dedication of our members past and present. We are deeply grateful for 21 years of music-making and look forward to many more to come.
Mission Statement

The goal of MPO is to provide opportunities to students and community members to perform with a full symphony orchestra for free. We guide students on their musical journeys as they perform challenging music and learn to become better musicians.
MPO does not and shall not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion (creed), gender, gender expression, age, national origin (ancestry), disability, marital status, sexual orientation, or military status, in any of its activities or operations.
